Legalization of Marijuana Debate Scheduled

SF Nov 4-San Francisco State University will be hosting Steven Hager and Robert Stutman, who will debate the issues surrounding the legalization of marijuana. Following the debate Dr. Billy Martin will offer a nonbiased scientific perspective of the use of marijuana. “Heads vs. Feds: The Great Debate” will be conducted LIVE via satellite broadcast on Tuesday, November 18, 2003 at 4:30 - 6 pm.

Hager, Editor-in-Chief of High Times Magazine, works to establish the counterculture as a legitimate minority group. Stutman made a 25-year career as one of the country’s highest profile DEA agents, responsible for more than15,000 arrests. Dr. Billy Martin is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at Virginia Commonwealth University.

This trio is sure to fuel heated conversation of the timely issue of whether or not marijuana should be legalized for medical use and/or recreational use. They will discuss the physical and social effects of marijuana, and the current laws surrounding the use and possession of the drug.

The program, produced by Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society of the Two-Year College and the National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC), is the final installment of a five part series entitled Dimensions and Directions of Health: Choices in the Maze.

Persons interested in attending should RSVP to Sharon Evans: sharonevans4@yahoo.com.
