Marvin
Chavez Collapses in Jail, Sent to Hospital Ward |
|
Santa Ana June 5- I spoke with Linda Chavez at Marvin's
hearing on the 30th and she told me that Marvin collapsed and was taken
to the prison's hospital ward. Marvin suffers from a previous injury
and a form of spinal arthritis and must use a special back brace to
keep his back in allignment. He has been denied the use of this brace
and x-rays taken show overlapping bones in his back causing nerve damage
and excruciating pain. They also found blood in his urine.
Prison pain treatment consists of 2 or 3 Tylenol a week. There are many people with chronic pain and disabilities suffering cruel and unusual punnishment in our jails and prisons today. Marvin suffers from spinal arthritis and is in constant pain. His sentence is equivalent to torture. He has been denied his medicine, use of his back brace or extra blankets or pillows he needs because of extreme sensitivity to cold and hard surfaces. His disability has been cut off and is in desperate need of help and support. While in jail he is working to educate other prisoners and needs educational material, stamps and money placed in his account for supplies. He also needs letters of support to let him know he's not alone in standing up for patient's rights. Please send financial support in check or money order to: Linda
